Special Notice re Hoax Calls concerning our Helpline telephone number. We are currently the victim of a scam concerning our Helpline telephone number. The effect is that some people may receive a text message on their mobile phone requesting them to contact us. It would appear that dozens of these spam texts may be sent on an almost daily basis and as a result we receive so many calls from concerned members of the public each evening that it can sometimes interfere with the normal operations of our Helpline. If you do receive such a text message and contact us, one of our trained volunteers will inform you of the situation and what steps you may be able to take. We are not the only Gay and Lesbian Helpline to be experiencing this problem at the moment and Gloucestershire Police Service are currently investigating the matter with regard to our Helpline. Although this matter is out of hands, we would like to apologise if you have difficulty getting through to our Helpline during this period and would ask to bear with us until it is resolved. Update April 2008: The number of hoax messages seem to be more sporadic of late (some nights nothing, other nights frequent) and we are still in contact with the police concerning this matter.
